Do I need life insurance if I'm single with no kids?

Often not yet - but there are three real exceptions. If you have co-signed debt (a private student loan or a mortgage with a partner or parent), that obligation can pass to whoever co-signed. If you help support a parent or sibling, your income matters to them. And if you expect to have dependents soon, locking in a policy while you're young and healthy is far cheaper than waiting - rates are driven by age and health. If none of those apply, it's reasonable to hold off, though a small final-expense policy is worth a thought.

The gap most people miss

The real gap here is timing - coverage is cheapest when you're young and healthy, so "I don't need it yet" can quietly become "I can't get it cheaply anymore."

Worth a five-minute conversation to see whether any of the three exceptions apply to you.
